On February 27th, for the first time ever, Bremen High School hosted an event called Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
The Bremen Community helped to build beds for children in Midlothian that are in need. There were 35 students from Bremen who showed up to help and many others from the community and surrounding communities showed up to help as well.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a non-profit organization which provides the children with a brand new mattress, bedding and the bed frame that is made during these events. There are 250 chapters nationwide.
Dave King is the lead organizer of the Oak Forest chapter that was spearheading this event with Mrs. Arguelles, sponsor of the Interact club.
Bremen raised $6200 in total! The money raised was enough to build 21 beds! This particular chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace was founded in 2018 and does an event such as this once a month with other fundraising efforts. They rely on donations and community support and 100% of money raised goes to each build.
This event especially hit home to help the residents in Midlothian. Sleep in Heavenly Peace wanted to spread the word that no kid sleeps on the floor. If you are reading this and know of any family that are in need of a bed visit https://shpbeds.org/apply at no cost to them.
Thank you to all supporters who make these events possible and if you would like to donate or volunteer at the next build visit http://shpbeds.org/.
