The Bremen Step Team will be having Tryouts on Tuesday and Thursday; August 29th and the 31st. During tryouts, new members will be taught by previous step members a step combination to see how well they pick up, and how well they perform it. Attendees will be able to see what step is and what all of the expectations are.
Coach T says, “Stepping is a form of percussive dance in which the participant’s entire body is used as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of foot stomps, hand claps and spoken word.”
The purpose of Bremen’s Step Team is to create an atmosphere of unity and diversification through stepping and group creativity. The group’s primary responsibility is to entertain, develop a sense of school and individual pride, gain leadership skills, and develop a camaraderie between teammates. It is a club open to everyone.
An individual does not have to step to be a part of the club. Individuals must try out for the performance team if they wish to step. Tryouts will consist of an individual learning a step taught by current members of the team. Individuals will be judged on their ability to follow directions. It is important that participants are coachable, have showmanship and master the choreography. We are looking forward to another exciting year.
